The Gut

The fundamental principle in Ayurveda is that without a Strong Gut, one cannot live a healthy life. A corrupted Gut is the beginning of chronic digestive problems and other connected health issues. Modern science talks now about the Gut-Brain connection. Ayurveda talked about it 5,000 years ago.

My signature program aims at managing conditions in the Gastro-Intestinal Tract like gut pain, bloating, constipation, IBS, inflammation, acidity, piles as well as connected health issues like: sleep, low energy, weight issues, brain fog, mood swings, skin issues, and women's problems.

Brain-Gut Connection
The gut-brain connection refers to the bidirectional communication pathway between the gastrointestinal tract and the brain, influencing various aspects of physical and mental health. The Gut is referred to as the "second brain" because of its complex network of neurons and its ability to function independently of the brain, influencing emotions, mood, and even decision-making processes.

Digestion, Agni and Ama

The cornerstone of health in Ayurveda comes back to the simple concept of agni, our digestive fire. Likewise, the seed of disease comes back to the concept of āma, toxins.

Balanced Agni is the key to proper digestion, assimilation of nutrients, sustained energy, healthy ageing, and maintaining homeostasis. Quality agni can prevent āma (toxins) from forming and burn existing impurities that are stagnated within the body and mind.

Basically, Agni, this transformative energy (enzymes, acids, and chemicals) released by the body while digesting, is key to our health. There are more than 40 Agnis in our body, and each one has a special role in digestion, assimilation, absorption, and nourishment of the body. The main one is located in the stomach.

Our teacher in Ayurveda used to say that "we are as old as our Agni". So try to M-AGNI-FY your Agni and take care of it so it will love you back.

In Ayurveda, when we work on people with digestive problems or signs of a weak Agni, we follow a two-pillar approach:
Agni Deepana —
strengthen the digestive power to properly transform every food ingested and nourish the bodily tissues
Ama Pachana —
detoxify the body, make it clean and ensure all waste products from digestion are eliminated
Around 10 organs in your body are involved in the digestion process happening in the mouth to the anal canal. Hence, a lot of energy is required, and that is the force of your Agni.

Did you know that only 5% of what we eat is transformed by the Gut into body nutrients? The rest is eliminated by your body. So the food you eat must be really looked at carefully.

One of the signs of knowing if you have toxins in your body, is by looking at your tongue.
Does your tongue have a white coating? Then this is the sign of Ama present in your Gastrointestinal tract: stagnant energy that is going to stay there, ferment, become acidic and travel around your body to sit in some weak spot in your body and create diseases like: skin problems, breathing issues, low energy and immunity, disturbed mind, lack of sleep and focus, hormonal imbalances, etc.
